What would you add to Morning’s Wrath?

We’ve created a poll on Facebook for fans to voice their opinions on what they would add to Morning’s Wrath.

And while you’re there, don’t forget to “like” us on Facebook if you haven’t already.

Morning’s Wrath

It has been roughly six years since Morning’s Wrath was released. Many fans might expect that all of the updates and improvements that would be made, have been made.

Those fans would be wrong…

Pluggin’ away

Finished a revamp of my home office, much better suited for development now.

Currently I’m working on the kinematic player controller; need for… well, player control :)

Almost there…

The Selenite 2 Editor as it appears now

Working… Working…

Still working away on Selenite, as might be expected.

Installation Packages and Content Ratings

We’ve added installation packages to the Selenite2 editor.  Each package represents a number of potential deliverables that can be built and distributed to users.

We also implemented support for The Independent Game Rating System…

TIGRS™ is a free self-rating system for video game entertainment products. Many developers and publishers of Internet-available games have decided by their own volition to rate their games in order to educate their audiences about potentially objectionable content in their games. -tigrs.org

…and now you can do so automatically inside of the Selenite2 editor!

Simply select the image style, content rating, and add content descriptors; Selenite will use the data where applicable and allow you to create print-quality TIGRS labels.

Model Importing and Material Editing

We can now create environments with ease through the Selenite editor.  Next, more work on object collision meshes, character control and WYSIWYG editing/layout.

Days, Time and Seasons

Here is some work-in-progress art of the time system UI for Revel Immortal.

Time System UI Concept for Revel Immortal

As seen here, a calendar year is composed of twelve months of five weeks each with six days, for a total of 360 day years. The ring rotates as days pass and the current day is indicated by the top dial indicator.   The colored bands outside the ring will rotate and shift collectively to indicate the current season and season duration.  Not seen in this image is the time-of-day indicator, which will exist in the center as a sun/moon sphere that rotates vertically to indicate time of day.  The moon hemisphere has an inner horizontally rotating sphere to indicate moon phase.  Also unseen is a barometric pressure meter used to indicate weather change from fair to foul.

As you might guess, weather, seasons, moon phases and even dates will play a large role in Revel Immortal; we are striving to give a real sense of time in the game and making gameplay change heavily  depending on season and weather.

Walk-Around Complete

With the combined help of our newcomers Josh, Travis, Jay and Brad  we have reached a ‘Walk-Around’ milestone in the engine.  That is the player character is able to move about the game world under player control in the new Selenite2  3D engine.  This paves the way for developing more advanced systems and brings us closer to content creation for Revel Immortal.
